We’re well and truly in the middle of baby bird season! This means that BBEVS is receiving large numbers of wild baby birds every day from well-meaning members of public.

Fledglings are baby birds who have started leaving the nest so that they can learn valuable skills such as flying and foraging for food. While they might look like abandoned or orphaned chicks, they are almost certainly under the very watchful eyes of mum and dad!

Injured baby birds, or those who are truly orphaned or abandoned, should be taken to a vet for immediate veterinary care. All other baby birds will appreciate being left alone so that mum and dad can teach them those valuable skills in the wild.
